Why We Choose Natural Fabrics

On linen, wool and cotton, and on making things close to home

At Rouri we work with natural fibers because they breathe, soften with wear and last for years. We design in Barcelona and make in small quantities.

Everything at Rouri begins with the fibers. Before a silhouette, before a colour, we think about what the piece will feel like against the skin in its fifth summer, not just on the first day.

That is why we work with linen, cotton, wool and cashmere. Linen comes from the flax plant, and it gets softer with every wash. Wool keeps you warm and still lets the body breathe. Cotton only improves with wear. They are not the easy choice, and they are not the inexpensive one, but they age well, and I want my clothes to age well.

Our Founder, Rocio, designs all our pieces in Barcelona, and we make in small quantities, in workshops we know. Working at this scale means we can visit, ask questions, and fix a problem with a phone call instead of a claims form. It also means we make less, and I think that's the right way round.
